DAY 4 – Bristol
Another sold out show tonight! We are in Bristol and the only time I recall playing here in the past was under the name ‘Christian Balestorm’ where we dressed up as characters from the batman movies and changed all our song names so with it being the first Alestorm show in Bristol we were quite surprised it was sold out.
Upon arrival at the venue we were warned by the venue staff to be careful as the Misfits had played the same venue the night before and the rumour was that one of the members had had sex on the table in the backstage where the dinner was served. You’ll all be pleased to know though that he used protection… because we found it on the floor. Gross.
The show was a blinder anyway, and apart from the hundreds of crowd surfers, which normally I really approve of, but if you keep knocking over microphone stands and kicking us in the face then we can’t play our instruments and the show becomes awful. Oh well, awesome show anyway Bristol. Thanks!

Day 5 – Southampton
One of the things that I like to do on tour is Margarita afternoons. Luckily there was an Asda right beside the venue and we were able to get stocked up and delightfully pished on happy juice well before the sold out show in The Cellar. That’s the only bit of exciting information I have about during the day in Southampton apart from the fact that the quite obviously sexually frustrated guitarist from Darkest Era, Ade, after seeing how happy and drunk we were practically begged us to go back to his hotel for a ‘naked showering party’. I chose not to, even though he even offered me money at one point. Creepy.
Anyway, the sold out show was incredible. It’s the first time that I ever heard the crowd singing the words to all of our songs before we had walked out on stage and according to other people the ceiling of the merch area which was underneath the stage was shaking due to the crowd. The evening after the gig was quite a calm one though, just everyone back to the bus for cups of tea; we can be quite civilised sometimes too.

Day 6 – Manchester
Curry mile day! That was the only plan for Manchester, that and go to the Manchester City shop which I did but had to leave as I realised I could have spent my entire tour pay on things. Also we visited a fancy dress shop in an attempt to buy something for a stage invasion for Darkest Era as it was Krum, their vocalists birthday and we thought some silliness should ensue.
We opted for running onstage wearing horse masks wielding pizza with a birthday candle in it. Then once again with an actual birthday cake. Oh how we spoilt him, especially when there was talk of getting him a lap dance but unfortunately an early bus meant that he just had to settle for one of the ‘wank booths’ situated in one of the local sex shops.

Day 7 – Glasgow
Glasgow is somewhat of a hometown gig for us. Although two of us are from Northern Ireland and the other two are from parts of Scotland that aren’t Glasgow but we always feel at home and very welcome there. Tonight’s was in a lovely big venue called The Garage where we have played before supporting Sabaton so it was great to be finally playing our own headlining show here.
In true Scottish fashion I took some of the Australians for a couple of bottles of Buckfast in the afternoon, and also had a wee pint at Walkabout which is the most horrendous Australian themed pub and which amused Claim The Throne no end.
The show was absolutely perfect. One of those gigs that would have brought a tear to my eye if I was a bit of a fruit. After the show was less perfect though, whoevers’ idea it was for us all to get deep fried battered pizza can bugger right off. It was hard work.
