Ephel Duath – ‘On Death & Cosmos’

Ephel Duath mastermind Davide Tiso talks to Molten about ‘On Death & Cosmos’ artwork and future plans.

“I wanted the artwork to put in image the strong title choosen for the EP. There’s nothing that symbolises life as much as a tree and to me a tree on fire is one of the most painful images to look at. Dehn Sora is the artist we picked to take care of all the new Ephel Duath’s related art and I’m blown away by his poetic imagery. I didn’t know his work before. This very young French artist was suggested to me by Filip of Agonia Records and we’ll absolutely keep working with him in the future. The fact that Dehn Sora is also a big Ephel Duath fan is making this collaboration even more exciting; he’s working the extra mile for us and I’m so proud of what we are creating together. Having another very strong visual artist as a band member is also making a big difference! Karyn Crisis’ art is absolutely outstanding, and she’s already worked on some pieces for the band – an official ‘On Death & Cosmos’ t-shirt on sale in ours and Agonia’s webstore and a limited edition giclee print for the ‘On Death & Cosmos” Exclusive Package Deal that the band is directly offering to the fans on facebook.com/ephelduathofficial

Although it may be too early to talk in full about the next Ephel Duath release, Davide tells us he is planning the next full length already. “While we are promoting ‘On Death & Cosmos’ I’m working full time on composing a new album. I just started the guitar pre-production. So far I’ve composed six songs and wrote five lyrics; I’m ahead of my plans. Erik Rutan will produce the new album at his Mana Recording Studios in Florida. I hope we will be able to start recording drums in September.”
